Marla Jean Hansen was born on May 15, 1962 to Zenith and Arlene (Conklin) Hansen in Sioux Falls, SD. She graduated from Brandon Valley High School. Marla married Randy Klockman on November 5, 1988 in Canistota, SD. She went on to receive her bachelor’s degree in Nursing from Dakota Wesleyan University in Mitchell, SD in 2005. She dedicated herself to a nursing career and a brief time as a small business owner following graduation. Marla was a loving wife, mom, and grandma, who cared deeply for her family. Marla loved baking and enjoyed arts and crafts, especially ceramics, earlier in her life. She enjoyed animals, especially her dogs and chickens on the farm. She greatly admired both of her parents, sharing their Christian faith and strong work ethic throughout her life.

Marla is survived by her husband, Randy of Bridgewater; children, Monty Dunn (fiancé Eva Mendez) of Sioux Falls, Melissa Klockman (significant other, Beau) of Sacramento, CA and Trevor Klockman of Bridgewater; grandchildren, Caen and Rayla; siblings, Wesley Hansen, Linda (Greg) Jackson and Rodney (Andrea) Hansen; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; infant brother, Rollin; and sister-in-law, Kathy Hansen. --- From Sandhills Care Center Manager Penny Jacobs It is with great sadness that the Sandhills Care Center said goodbye to our Director of Nursing, co-worker and friend, Marla Klockman who passed away unexpectedly on December 31, 2022.

Marla began working at the care center as a Traveling Registered Nurse just under a year ago and in December became a full-time permanent employee. She will be greatly missed by her co-workers and the residents.

Her sudden passing came at a time in which she was transitioning from travel to full-time staff which also left her without health coverage. Her family is dealing with so much cost related to her emergency care, emergency transport and burial costs.

The staff of the Sandhills Care Center will be opening a donation account to assist her family with these costs. All donations will be given to Marla’s family and no funds will be used by the care center. We wish to show our care and support to Marla’s family in their time of need.

An account has been set up at West Plains Bank for donations to a memorial fund. The banks said checks should be made out to either Randy Klockman or Memorial of Marla Klockman. Funds will also be collected at the Sandhills Care Center and put into the same account at the bank for you if you so wish.
