Peter “Pete” Paul Stec was born July 16, 1937 in Long Pine, NE, to Anton and Agnes (Lazarowicz) Stec.

He grew up on the family ranch that he worked alongside with his parents and siblings. He attended elementary school in Long Pine through 8th grade and high school at St. Agnus Academy in Alliance, NE, where he graduated in 1956. Pete moved to Denver, CO where he became a Real Estate Broker, opening Stec Real Estate in 1965.

During this time Pete met his devoted wife of 57 years, Rosie (Unrein). They were married on April 23, 1966 in Hays, KS. On September 30, 1967, they had their first son, Jeffrey Joseph. Their family continued to grow with the birth of Eric Thomas on July 16, 1971 and Bruce Aaron on July 3, 1974.

The couple moved to Ogallala, NE in 1975 where Pete continued his real estate business until it was sold in 1996.

Pete was active in his community and church including Optimists Club, Elks Club, Drovers and Home Builders Association. He took great pride in being a 60 year member in the Knights of Columbus.

Pete was a man of great integrity and humility. His Catholic faith was his foundation which he maintained at St. Luke’s in Ogallala and St. Patrick’s in Gretna.

His greatest joy was spending time with his family and grandkids. The river was his favorite spot to play and teach them about life.

Pete is survived by his wife, Rosella (Rosie) Stec of Gretna, NE; sons, Jeffrey J. (Melinda) Stec of Omaha, NE, Bruce A. (Robin) Stec of Omaha; grandchildren, Tori, McKenna, Hanna, Keaton, Hayden, Kathryn and Reid; one sister, Teresa (Jay) Murphy of Stockton, KS; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and numerous friends.

He was preceded in death by his son, Eric Thomas; parents, Anton and Agnes (Lazarowicz) Stec; brothers, Greg, Leo, Alfred, George, Anthony, Stanley and Joseph Stec; sisters, Pauline Kosmicki and Bernice Voller.
