Funeral services for Raymond Alvin Killion Sr., 85, were held on Monday, December 2nd, 2024 at the Gorman Funeral Homes-Platte Chapel in Wheatland, WY. Interment was in the Wheatland Cemetery.

Raymond passed away Wednesday, November 27th, 2024 at the Platte County Memorial Hospital in Wheatland.

He was born Wednesday, April 26, 1939 in Ainsworth, NE, the son of Orman Alvin and Edna (Hartgrave) Killion. He was joined by Freda, Jim, Butch and Bobby, and later half siblings Debbie, Cathy, Roger, Rita, Becky, Bub and Brian.

Ray grew up on a ranch in Elsmere, NE. He started driving truck at an early age.

He married Betty May Hamilton, and along with this marriage came two young daughters, Nadine and Vicki. Later they had Judy, Rhonda, and Raymond “Kit” Killion Jr. They lived in Johnstown, NE for several years. He owned his own truck starting Killion Truck Line in 1961, mainly hauling livestock and grain. They moved to Wheatland in 1978 to work helping build the power plant. He slowly added on more trucks to Killion Truck Line.

He was an avid trapshooter. He went all over trapshooting including state and national meets. He was inducted into Wyoming Trapshooting Hall of Fame in 2018. He really enjoyed helping young people learn how to trap shoot. He loved to work on guns for anyone that needed something done to their guns. He also loved to go prairie dog hunting and watching rodeos on TV.

Raymond was a good, honest, hard-working man, who loved his family dearly. He will be sorely missed by all.

He was preceded in death by his dad, Orman Killion; mom, Edna Schmeichel; sisters, Freda Mauer and Cathy Killion; brothers, Jim and Butch Killion; son-in-law, Walter Larson; and grandsons, Michael Larson and Joshua Finley.

Raymond is survived his wife, Betty Killion, of Wheatland; daughters, Nadine (Mike) Cullison of Fort Laramie, WY, Vicki Larson of Springview, NE, Judy (Kenny) Hurlbert of Wheatland, and Rhonda (Dave) Peterson of Casper, WY; son, Raymond “Kit” (Pam) Killion Jr. of Wheatland; brother, Bob (Carol) Walton of Ainsworth; half-brothers, Roger, Bub and Brian Killion; half-sisters, Debbie, Rita and Becky; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren.

Serving as pallbearers were Kyle Hurlbert, Justin Killion, Jimmy Killion, Chop Watts, Brian Killion and Bub Killion.

Serving as honorary pallbearers were Steve Gudahl, Kurt Schiller, Josh Graves, and Gary Olson.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Raymond A. Killion Memorial Fund, 85 Jefferson Road, Wheatland, WY 82201 would be appreciated by the family.
