Funeral services for Roger Boyer, age 78, of Wausa were held Thursday, June 12, at Golgotha Lutheran Church in rural Wausa. 

Reverend Terry Makelin officiated, with burial in Bloomfield City Cemetery in Bloomfield. 

Roger died Saturday, June 7, 2025, at Good Samaritan Society in Bloomfield. 

Roger Kent Boyer, son of Reverend Raymond and Alta (Spader) Boyer, was born on July 18, 1946, in York. He graduated from Tilden High School in 1964. He then graduated from Peru State College and later received advanced degrees from both UNO and UNK.
Roger started his teaching career in Dawson-Verdon and Arbor Heights Junior High. He then became principal at Bloomfield High School, Ainsworth High School, Lexington Middle School, and Holbrook Junior High School in Arizona. He finished out his 40 plus years in education as superintendent at Wilcox-Hildreth. 

After retiring, Roger served on the Wilcox-Hildreth School Board and was mayor of Hildreth. Roger was a huge advocate for the Teammates Program and had several mentees throughout the years. He was a very dedicated educator and was known for his kindness to everyone and his love for his students. 

Roger had two sons from a previous marriage, Monte and Chad. 

Roger married Judy on February 23, 1979, and gained a daughter, Jennifer. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Ray, Rodney, and Dan. 

Roger is survived by his wife of 46 years, Judy; his devoted dog, Bailey; sons Monte (Sarah) Boyer of Wayne and Chad (Brooke) Boyer of Pilger; daughter Jennifer Schuett of Ainsworth; twin sister, LuAnn (Terry) Thacker; grandchildren, Marcus and Morgan Osborn, Ellie and Delaney Boyer, Kelsey and Ashtyn Boyer; along with many nieces, nephews, and other family members.
Memorials are suggested to the family in Roger’s name to be used for scholarships for future educators.
