Shawn Lee Malone, age 41, of Ainsworth, passed away Monday, September 1, in the Black H ills o f South D akota. H e w as b orn November 1 4, 1 983, i n A insworth, t o C urtis Malone and Lonny (Malone) Evans.
A true one-of-a-kind character, Shawn could fill a ny r oom w ith h is s ense o f h umor a nd laughter. His adventurous spirit and unwavering optimism were a gift to everyone who knew him.
He spent his life working with his hands, carrying on the proud tradition of carpentry that began with his Grandpa Chuck. When he wasn’t working, Shawn spent most of his free time a round people. W hether i t w as shooting pool, playing cribbage, riding side-by-sides or just sitting around enjoying cold drinks with good company, he always made sure those around him felt known.
Survivors include his daughter Shelby Werlinger of Sturgis, S.D.; his mother L onny ( Jerry) E vans o f A insworth; s tep-mother Lori ( Buoy) Malone of Long Pine; maternal grandmother Marsha Lewis of Montpelier, Idaho; paternal grandmother Sharon Malone of Ainsworth; and four step-siblings—Brandon (Mandy) Evans of Ainsworth; Hallie (Jerod) Lutter of Gillette, Wyo.; Callie (Lance) Korinko of Stuart; and Kelsie Evans of Ainsworth; along with nine step-nieces and nephews.
Shawn was preceded in death by his father Curtis Malone, paternal grandfather Chuck Malone, and maternal grandfather Lyle Lewis.
A Celebration of Life to honor both Shawn a nd his father, C urtis w ill be held on September 20th, at noon in the American Legion in Ainsworth.
