Terry and Kendra (Dougherty) Woods of Prescott Valley, AZ (formerly of Ainsworth, NE and Winner, SD) passed away in the spring of 2021. A joint funeral service was held Tuesday, May 17, 2022 at the Congregational Church in Ainsworth. Inurnment was in the Ainsworth south cemetery.

Terry Lee Woods, 64, passed away April 2, 2021. Terry was born April 23, 1956 to Francis and Eva Woods in Ainsworth, NE. He attended McAndrew Elementary (K-8) and graduated from Ainsworth High in 1974. He worked in the cornfields, alongside his dad and older brother, Jerry. After graduating, Terry spent several years working construction and acquired a talent for welding while working at Buckley Steel. He moved to Arizona to work for Better Built, where he spent over 30 years. Terry enjoyed using his welding skills to make art or things of practical use around the house. He spent his weekends hiking in the woods, as well as perusing the aisles of the local flea market, often accompanied by his children.

Terry was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Jerry Woods. He is survived by his son, Matthew Woods; daughter, Beth Ann (Stephen) Hernandez; and sister-in-law, Carol Woods.

Kendra Kay (Dougherty) Woods, 63, passed away May 10, 2021 in the care of Good Samaritan Marley House in Prescott, AZ. Kendra was born on September 17, 1957 to Effie Anderson (Heartland) in Wagner, SD. She and her siblings were later adopted by Wayne Dougherty. She attended Rural School (K-8) and graduated from Winner High in 1975. She attended Mount Marty University for social work as well as home economics, and graduated in 1979. Kendra helped to look after her siblings and with chores around the farm. She worked as a line cook and for Headstart. She pursued her career in addiction counseling after battling alcoholism herself, becoming sober December 20, 1979. Kendra was proudly sober for over 40 years. Kendra enjoyed a variety of crafts such as quilting and crocheting. She was a marvel in the kitchen as well as a lover of foreign and classic films.

Kendra was preceded in death by her mother; sister, Darcy Dougherty; stepfather, Dwight Anderson and stepmother, Judy Dougherty.

She is survived by her father; brother, Kirk Dougherty; sisters, Karen Hall and Bonnie Dougherty; son, Matthew Woods; and daughter, Beth Ann (Stephen) Hernandez.

Terry and Kendra met through mutual friends and married in Colome, SD on October 18, 1980. They moved from Ainsworth, NE in 1988 to Wickenburg, AZ, then later to Prescott Valley, AZ. God was the center of their marriage. They valued prayer and often shared scripture. They both never hesitated to help people in need. Kendra and Terry lived by Matthew 22:37-39. ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your mind. ‘This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’
