Ainsworth High School Speech Team Wins Home Invite

On Saturday, February 18th, the Ainsworth High School Speech Team hosted their home invitational. Ainsworth was the team champion of this contest, and all Ainsworth speakers brought home an individual medal.

Jolyn Pozehl stands on the podium following her third place finish in the girls 115 lb. weight class at the 2023 NSAA State Wrestling Championships. This is her second year on the winner’s podium at state wrestling.

Ainsworth sent three wrestlers to the 2023 NSAA State Wrestling Tournament in Omaha, February 16th, 17th and 18th. Jolyn Pozehl took third place in the girls 115 lb.

Christian Thompson, wrestling in the 220 lb. weight class, had two wins, but was eliminated in the Consolation Semi Finals.

Ainsworth Wrestlers Place 15th in NSAA Class D District 2

The Ainsworth Wrestling Team traveled to Southern Valley in Oxford, NE for the NSAA Class D District 2 Wrestling Meet on Friday and Saturday, February 10th and 11th. As a team, Ainsworth took 15th place out of 23 teams.

The Ainsworth Bulldogs defeated the Stuart Broncos, 52-42, and the Gothenburg Swedes, 53-42. The two wins bring the Dawgs to 9-10 on the season with one regular season game left.

The Ainsworth Lady Bulldogs wrapped up regular season play with a win over the Stuart Lady Broncos, 69-41, and loss to the Gothenburg Lady Swedes, 30-52. Ainsworth hosted Stuart on February 7th and picked up their 10th win of the season.

Cameryn Goochey got mugged by two Sandhills/Thedford players after she got a rebound.

The Ainsworth Lady Bulldogs had a tough, busy week with three basketball games in three days. The Lady Bulldogs hosted Broken Bow on February 2nd for a make up game and came up short to the Lady Chanticleers, 39-45.

Jacob Held goes up for a lay up on a fast break, but the ball was deflected at the last second by Carson Cooksley of Sandhills/Thedford.
