Gov. Kristi Noem and South Dakota’s congressional delegation are criticizing President Joe Biden’s decision to cancel a permit needed to build the Keystone XL pipeline while a coalition of Indigenous people, environmental activists and some rural landowners are celebrating.

The Ainsworth Lady Bulldogs moved to 13-7 on the season with a 55-44 win over the Sandhills-Thedford Lady Knights on Febuary 5th.
The Burke/Gregory Storm hosted a JV wrestling tournament in Burke on Thursday, January 28th. Sixty-seven wrestlers from eight different teams participated. Wrestlers came from Burke/Gregory, Canton, Parkston, Philip Area, Winner, Kimball/White Lake/Platte-Geddes, Lyman and McCook Central/Montrose. Wrestlers were split up into 20 different groupings based on weight and skill level and the tournament was run similar to the AAU tournament that is held every year in Burke with round robin style matches within each weight/skill level. Storm JV wrestlers and their placing in the tournament are as follows: Eli Ekroth-1st, Mason Peck-2nd, Carson Peck-3rd, Mason Janak-2nd, Kaleb Schonebaum-1st, Mason Hood-1st, Trey Murray-4th, and Kade Braun-2nd.
“The Badger wrestling team competed in their last regular season tournament of the year in Ainsworth last weekend. The Badgers came away with two champions in Chris Williams and Drake Janssen. Chris beat the #1 rated wrestler in South Dakota in the finals. That match marked his 150th career win. Chris also received the fastest pin award with an 11 second pin in the first round.
