The 2022 inductees for the Nebraska Sandhills Cowboy Hall of Fame have been announced. The 11 men and women being inducted are Dave Cambell (deceased) of Wheeler County, Bill Gallino (deceased) of Cherry County, Walter E. Gibbons, Sr. (deceased) of Custer County, Dave Knight of Keith County, Bill J. Manning of Cherry County, Lowell Minert (deceased) of Blaine County, Mick Phillips of Garfield County, Mike Welker (deceased) of Cherry County, Bill White (deceased) of Grant County, Rita White (deceased) of Grant County and George Winters (deceased) of McPherson County.

Springtime Catspotting: Lynx and Leo Minor

Many constellations are bright, big, and fairly easy to spot. Others can be surprisingly small and faint, but with practice even these challenging star patterns become easier to discern. A couple of fun fainter constellations can be found in between the brighter stars of Ursa Major, Leo, and Gemini: Lynx and Leo Minor, two wild cats hunting among the menagerie of animal-themed northern star patterns!

City of Long Pine to Undergo Wastewater System Study and GIS Infrastructure Mapping

The Long Pine City Council held a regular meeting on Thursday, April 7th at the Long Pine Community Center. Council members Linda Alberts, Dave Cheatum, Kathy Papstein and Andrea Collatos were present, as well as City Clerk Jan Buoy, Mayor Ed Brown, Attorney Rod Palmer and Utilities Superintendent Jim Debolt.

Recognizing PTSD

Post-traumatic stress disorder, or PTSD, was first listed as a medical diagnosis in 1980. However, it has been recognized and called by many different names throughout history. The first recorded description of PTSD is in the Epic of Gilgamesh which dates back to 2100 B.C. In The Iliad and The Odyssey, Homer wrote about Trojan War soldiers exhibiting the symptoms of PTSD. Shakespeare described a character in King Henry IV who suffered from post-traumatic nightmares.
