Ainsworth Senior Center Celebrates 45 Years

Forty-five years ago on August 2, 1981, the Ainsworth Senior Center held an open house to celebrate their new building. Senior Center officers in 1981 were Dorothy Walton, Bill Gudgel, Dwight Moody, Burdetta Jansen and George Brede.

A Friday night fire destroyed a building in Ainsworth. According to Ainsworth Assistant Fire Chief Devin Painter, at approximately 9:30 p.m.
Ainsworth Community Schools Begins Classes on Thursday, August 13

Ainsworth Community Schools will open its doors to students for the 2026-27 school year on Thursday, August 13. The school has a host of new employees beginning this year.
Ainsworth Reclaims Border Cup

Ainsworth recaptured the Border Cup Saturday at the Ainsworth Golf Course, winning the annual match play event between members of the Ainsworth Golf Course and Bassett Country Club by a score of 15-1/2 to 9-1/2.

LINCOLN--Nebraska football’s rich history is intertwined alongside that of college football, and its home stadium is, too. Ground broke on the first iteration of Memorial Stadium on April 26, 1923 — about 33 years after Nebraska football played its first-ever game.

The population of songbirds is in serious decline, in fact, down approximately 40% since 1960. This is partially due to the fact that 54% of the United States is now urban or suburban and of that 80% of what is planted in landscapes is non-native.

The AHS Speech team had both a busy and successful week of competition, competing in the Southwest Conference Meet in Broken Bow on Monday, February 28th and the District C1-6 tournament in Ainsworth on Saturday, March 5th.
