The Ainsworth Volunteer Fire Department responded to two grass fires over the Christmas weekend – one in southern Brown County on Friday, December 24th and the other north of Ainsworth at 1:00 a.m. on Monday, December 27th.

Bulldog Basketball packed up and headed to Tilden for the Elkhorn Valley Holiday Tournament on Monday, December 27th through the 28th. The team came straight off the NSAA five-day practice and competition moratorium that lasted through the 26th.

Ainsworth wrestlers, Mason Painter and Jensen Williams, competed in the Pleasanton Kurt Keaschall Invite on December 30th. Mason Painter, 120 lbs., lost his first two matches.

During November and December, the Ainsworth Blue and Red mock trial teams competed both virtually and in-person, presenting a case called The State of Nebraska vs. Jules Chapelle.

The Long Pine Rural Fire Department held a retirement party for Jim Debolt on December 30th at the fire hall in Long Pine. DeBolt retired after serving 26 1/2 years in the department. During those years, as well as being part of the Long Pine Department, DeBolt was the clerk for the Brown County Rural Fire District, handling minutes, treasurer duties and virtually all the paperwork for the Brown County Rural Fire District. DeBolt said he was put on the Long Pine Fire Department in 1995 when he went to work for the City of Long Pine and the mayor told him a city employee was required to be part of the Long Pine Department.

The regular meeting of the Brown County Hospital (BCH) Board of Trustees was held Monday, December 20, 2021. Present were Chairman Brent Deibler, board members: John Gross, Tate Schipporeit and Brian Delimont. Jim Walz was excused.
