2021 State Range Judging Contest Held in Cherry County

Two hundred and ninety-seven high school students and teachers from 42 schools from across Nebraska visited Cherry County this fall to test their knowledge of rangeland management during the 66th Annual Nebraska State Range Judging Contest on September 28th and 29th.

Year In Review

As humans, we often like to try and compare things to average or normal. Was the precipitation received within the expected normal range? Were temperatures for a particular season outside of normal? Was our pasture or hay production in the range we consider normal?

Brown County Foundation Fund Scholarships Due By January 15th

The Brown County Foundation Fund Scholarship Committee is offering two scholarships in January. These are the donor-advised Jan O’Hare Memorial Scholarship and the donor-advised Teacher Education Scholarship.

Taco or Chef Salad Available Thursday, January 6th: Fish sandwich, French fries, carrots, peaches, bun and milk. Friday, January 7th: Baked chicken, mashed potato, corn, pineapple, bread and milk.

Local News

Carol Woods enjoyed having her brother, Jim Marsh of Ceresco, and pups visit over the Christmas holiday. Friend, Don, joined them for Christmas dinner. We remember “Jesus is the Reason for the Season.” A beautiful red cardinal was seen in the tree that noon. A memorial tree commemorating Carol’s late husband, Dad and Mom was decorated with their pictures and ornaments of their interests. Decorations in the Courthouse Park as well as on Main Street were enjoyed.
