Letters to the Editor

I cried today. I cried because there were so few parents at the Critical Race Theory and Comprehensive Sexuality Education informational meeting. I cried because there were so few school teachers there. I cried because only one school board member was at the meeting, and our superintendent could not make it. I cried because I don’t want to be an activist, but I can’t let my children be groomed for sexualization. I cried because this battle is too big for me and I don’t know what to do. I cried at the thought our school board members’ hands might be tied, and they are doing what they can. Then, I remembered my God. I got up, dusted off my armor, and reminded myself I love my community. I love my children and their friends, and I read the end of the Book; I know who wins. So I am not giving up. Please fight with me. www.ProtectNebraskaChildren.org.

Legislative Notes

Last session, my good friend Sen. Steve Halloran introduced the Convention of States resolution as he has done in every legislature since we began our term in office in 2017. Once passed, this will be Nebraska’s “application” to the United States Congress asking that a convention of states for the purpose of proposing amendments to the federal constitution be called. I strongly support this legislation, and I will always co-sponsor it.

Capitol News

Where Have All the Nebraska State Troopers Gone? A few weeks ago, I made my first post-pandemic road trip across Nebraska driving from Lincoln to Scottsbluff and then back to Lincoln a couple days later. It was great to see the crops growing, the traffic whizzing by and even the billboards beckoning me to stop and see what I had been missing all these months.
