Ainsworth Community Schools Begins Classes on Thursday, August 13

Ainsworth Community Schools will open its doors to students for the 2026-27 school year on Thursday, August 13. The school has a host of new employees beginning this year.
Ainsworth Reclaims Border Cup

Ainsworth recaptured the Border Cup Saturday at the Ainsworth Golf Course, winning the annual match play event between members of the Ainsworth Golf Course and Bassett Country Club by a score of 15-1/2 to 9-1/2.

The rumble of motorcycles and the spirit of generosity filled the roads of north central Nebraska on Saturday as the Celtic Riders hosted their annual Miles That Matter Poker Run, raising funds to help Ainsworth youngster Kolter Mizner and his family.
Century Lumber Held Summer Drawings

Century Lumber Center of Ainsworth held two drawings with entries taking place the last week of June and ending on Independence Day weekend. One drawing celebrated America’s 250th birthday.

The Ainsworth Airport reported 103 degrees for the high temperature during the afternoon of Wednesday, June 23rd with a heat index of 100 degrees. The extreme heat was a prelude to severe storms that swept across northern Brown County and Keya Paha County that evening.

House by Pump & Pantry Moved South of Bassett via Highway 20 and 183

The house located at 121 E 4th St. between the 1st Class Auto lot and Pump & Pantry was moved east via Highway 20 and south via Highway 183 to a ranch 20 miles south of Bassett. The house has been the offices for Dana F. Cole & Company accountants. Prior to that, the house was the location for Eby’s Beauty Salon for approximately 50 years.

Ainsworth Fire Department received training through Brad Thavenet, Corporate Trainer with Dive Rescue International of Ft. Collins, CO, Battalion Chief with NE Task Force 1 and Urban Search & Rescue Program Manager to conduct a Swift Water Rescue class for their members as well as other departments nationwide.

The 2021 Nebraska State High School Finals Rodeo was held in Hastings, June 17th-19th at the Adams County Fairgrounds. Over 150 high school rodeo athletes competed in 13 events and north central Nebraska was well represented.
