Memorial Day weekend is upon us. This day we honor those who died in the line of duty wearing the uniform of our country. To the family and friends of loved ones I say, may God bless you. There are over four thousand “Gold Star” families in Nebraska. Memorial Day is the special day we remember your sacrifice.

All Things Nebraska

One of the great, unsolved mysteries in the state has been why the beloved Trev Alberts left his alma mater to become athletic director at Texas A&M. Alberts was an All-American football player at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, then eventually became athletic director at the school after a successful stint at the University of Nebraska at Omaha.

Commissioners to Make Decision on Road to Isolated Land at June 4th Meeting

During the regular meeting of the Brown County Commissioners on May 21st, discussion of a proposed road to isolated land owned by Grant Kobes of Gretna continued. Attorney Todd Flynn, attorney for two landowners that own property near the former Long Lake State Recreation Area, informed the commissioners that his clients have come up with a resolution on the route for the proposed road they would like to be used.

Volunteers Prepare Ainsworth Cemetery for Memorial Day

Each year volunteers converge on the Ainsworth South Cemetery on Friday prior to Memorial Day to raise flags in preparation for Memorial Day. Volunteers raising the flags Friday afternoon included (Front Row Left to Right): Earl Brown, Fred Hagen, Joe McBride and Bill Haskell; (Back Row Left to Right): Curt Lewin, Lance Philben, Tom Ford, Larry Zeigler and Doug Weiss.

Sandhills Care Center Recognizes Veterans - Past and Present

A Veterans Recognition Program to honor past and present resident Veterans was held on Friday, May 24th at Sandhills Care Center. Sandhills Care Center Administrator Penny Jacob welcomed those who attended the program.
