Anglers, Biologists Join Forces in Midwest Walleye Challenge

Anglers and biologists are joining forces to bring a new kind of fishing tournament to Nebraska. The Midwest Walleye Challenge will give anglers in states across the Midwest a chance to compete for prizes while collecting important data for biologists.

County Farm Bureaus Hosted Legislative District 43 Candidate Forum

Those interested in learning more about the candidates running for the District 43 seat in the Nebraska Legislature were invited to participate in a candidate forum sponsored by Blaine, Boyd, Brown, Cherry, Custer, Dawes, Garfield, Keya Paha, Loup, Rock, and Sheridan County Farm Bureaus.

CRP General Signup Runs Through March 29th

Agricultural producers and private landowners can sign up for the general Conservation Reserve Program through March 29, 2024. This conservation opportunity gives producers tools to conserve wildlife habitat while achieving other conservation benefits, including sequestering carbon and improving water quality and soil health.

This Isn’t the Baby Blues

Transitioning to become a parent can be one of the most pivotal changes in a person’s life. Rarely are the hard moments of this change talked about enough. For example, did you know 1 in 5 women and 1 in 10 men suffer from postpartum depression? Parents of any culture, race, age, or income level can be affected. We commonly hear and get confused about postpartum depression being the “baby blues”. This is a common misconception. The baby blues are very common and happen to 80% of women in postpartum. This occurs within the first few days and lasts a few weeks. The baby blues will usually go away with rest and time.

Power Pole Inspections to be Conducted Across the State

Nebraska Public Power District (NPPD) is starting the process to inspect poles on its distribution, subtransmission, and transmission system across the state. NPPD has contracted with Alamon Utility Services to inspect wood poles on its distribution system and at its subtransmission facilities.
