Ainsworth Senior Center Celebrates 45 Years

Forty-five years ago on August 2, 1981, the Ainsworth Senior Center held an open house to celebrate their new building. Senior Center officers in 1981 were Dorothy Walton, Bill Gudgel, Dwight Moody, Burdetta Jansen and George Brede.

A Friday night fire destroyed a building in Ainsworth. According to Ainsworth Assistant Fire Chief Devin Painter, at approximately 9:30 p.m.
Ainsworth Community Schools Begins Classes on Thursday, August 13

Ainsworth Community Schools will open its doors to students for the 2026-27 school year on Thursday, August 13. The school has a host of new employees beginning this year.
Ainsworth Reclaims Border Cup

Ainsworth recaptured the Border Cup Saturday at the Ainsworth Golf Course, winning the annual match play event between members of the Ainsworth Golf Course and Bassett Country Club by a score of 15-1/2 to 9-1/2.

Brown County Republican Party Schedules Convention

The Brown County Republican Party will hold the Brown County Republican Convention at the Palmer Law Office, 121 East 2nd Street, Ainsworth, NE 69210, on March 11, 2024, at 9:00 a.m. At the County Convention there will be an election of party officers and delegates to represent Brown County at the Republican State Convention to be held on May 18, 2024, at the Cornhusker Hotel in Lincoln, NE.

Murray Mellor Receives 50 Year Shriners Membership Pin

On February 25, 2024, Murray Mellor, received his Fifty Year Shriners Membership Pin at the Park Side Manor in Stuart, NE. Murray assisted in many Shriner Circuses, transported several area children to the Shriners Hospital in Minneapolis, MN and had been a regular driver of his Model T Shriner car during parades.

Private Education Tax Credits Referendum will Appear on 2024 General Election Ballot

Nebraskans will get to vote on whether to divert public tax dollars to private schools. The Nebraska Secretary of State’s office will keep the Education Tax Credits referendum on the 2024 General Election ballot.
