The children in the Ainsworth Public Library’s K-4th grade Summer Reading Program kept track of the time spent reading from June 1st to June 30th in the online Reader Zone program. The children had a total of 6,253 minutes reading time.

The BKR 4-H Fair will be held at the Rock County Fairgrounds in Bassett, NE on July 31st, August 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th. The schedule for each day follows: Monday, July 31 5:00 p.m.

The State of Nebraska has $4 million remaining in a $5 million program to provide scholarships for nurses and is seeking more applicants. The scholarships, up to $2,500 per student for the fall semester, are available for any Nebraska resident enrolled in a licensed practical nurse program, associate degree of nursing program or accelerated bachelor of science in nursing program.

On the Beel Ranch southwest of Johnstown there were two storms that came over on Thursday and one Friday morning with over three inches of rain falling plus hail all three times. The hail stones weren’t real big but the wind was so strong that it did do damage to the crops and gardens. There has been so many bad hail storms this year in Nebraska. About .20 rain fell early Sunday morning in the Johnstown area.
