Brown County Community Foundation Presents Scholarships

The Brown County Community Foundation recently presented scholarships for the following categories: Jan O’Hare Memorial, Teacher Education, Non-traditional and Upper Class College Student Scholarship. Winners for 2023 include: Non-Traditional Student - Tiffany Barthel - $1,000.00 and Emily Jones - $1,000.00; Upper Class College Student Benjamin Flynn - $1,000.00 and Alyssa Erthum - $1,000.00; Teacher Education - CeeAnna Beel - $1,150.00 and Elizabeth Wilkins - $1,150.00; and Jan O’Mare Memorial - Madelyn Goochey - $500.00.

Bob Buckles Memorial Cruise Night A HUGE Success

The Bob Buckles Memorial Cruise Night was on Tuesday, July 4th with over 110 cars, pickups, motorcycles and tractors registered for the Cruise Night. The vehicles initially lined both sides of Main Street from 1st to 2nd Street and then spilled onto side streets.

Ainsworth Men’s Golf League

Kevin Martin fired a 1-under par round of 35 to take the top spot Thursday during men’s league golf at the Ainsworth Golf Course. Martin finished one shot ahead of Robert Magill and Nick Martin, who each posted even-par rounds of 36. Jesse Owen and Kyle Jackman shot rounds of 37, followed by Chuck Whitney, Logan Leach and Graig Kinzie with rounds of 38, and Rex Micheel, Troy Brodbeck, Jade Egle, Cam Palmer, Jim Hoch and Cody Goochey with rounds of 39.

Weather and How It Impacts Astronomy

Come join the National Park Service and National Weather Service on July 20 at 2:00 p.m. central at the Niobrara National Scenic River Visitor Center in Valentine to learn about how weather and the atmosphere can impact astronomy viewing.
