The regular meeting of the Brown County Hospital (BCH) Board of Trustees was held Monday, April 17, 2023. Present were Chairman Tate Schipporeit, Kirk Peterson, Brent Deibler and John Gross. Brian Delimont was excused. Also attending were CEO Mirya Hallock, CFO Tad Stearns - CFO, Lisa Fischer - HR, Brandy Bussinger - DON and Tawny Allen - Recording Secretary. Ainsworth played host to the District Music Contest on Friday, April 21st. Serving as accompanist for the Ainsworth students throughout the day were Sherry Campbell and Kim Bejot.

The Nebraska Public Service Commission (PSC) in cooperation with the Nebraska Broadband Office and the Office of the OCIO/ NITC has scheduled a series of community listening sessions on broadband access and digital opportunities through May 11th.

Legislature Moves Toward Building a Prison, Caution Remains The Legislature’s Appropriations Committee has signed off on providing the funds to build a $366 million prison in the Lincoln-Omaha area just as the Department of Corrections brings on a new director who appears to favor programming and investing in the humanity of the incarcerated. That brings some hope to a small but fierce band of senators who don’t think building is the best way out of the problem for the nation’s most overcrowded prison system.
