Brown County Hospital Board Meeting The Brown County Hospital Board meeting will be held on Monday, June 20th at 4:00 p.m. in the Brown County Hospital Conference Room.

At the regular meeting of the Ainsworth City Council on June 8th, the Council continued the discussion of amending an ordinance allowing residents to have chickens within the city limits. At the May meeting, the Council discussed amending the ordinance to allow residents of Ainsworth to have chickens within the city limits and a subcommittee was formed to draft a new ordinance and present it to the Council at the June 2022 meeting.

1897: 125 Years Ago “Field Day in Ainsworth: Stormy in the Morning but old Sol came out and a fine day resulted.” Prizes were given to winners of jumping, racing and throwing events, and a baseball game that was won by Keya Paha County. “It will be seen from the above that the Keya Paha County boys are right in it for all kinds of athletics.

The Brown County Sheriff’s Office raised awareness about seat belt safety to area residents during its annual Click It or Ticket high-visibility seat belt enforcement campaign, held May 23rd through June 5th.

People took advantage of the 8th Annual BBQ Rib Cook-Off to enjoy beef ribs on Saturday, June 11th at the Ainsworth Fire Hall. The Cook-Off was sponsored by the Ainsworth Volunteer Fire Department for the 8th year.

On Tuesday, June 7th, five members of the American Legion Unit #79 Junior Auxiliary distributed poppies to Ainsworth businesses from 2:00 to 3:30 in the afternoon in exchange for freewill donations, which amounted to $573.00. The members present were Gracyn Peterson, Jaylee Good, Briley Naprstek, Katherine Kerrigan and Jocelyn Good. Amy Salzman and Shari Luther of the Auxiliary were also present. These funds are used to promote the American Legion Family Programs by helping disabled veterans and remembering our service men and women.
