Carol Woods had a busy week. Saturday evening, May 14th, Carol’s niece, Beth Ann Hernandez and husband, Stephen, of Flagstaff, AZ, stopped for a visit. They had flown to Sioux Falls, SD. After having lunch with relatives, they drove to Nebraska. Beth Ann was finalizing arrangements for their parents, Terry and Kendra Woods’, memorial service on Tuesday. (They passed away in 2021). Her brother, Matthew Woods, of Prescott Valley, AZ, drove and arrived late Sunday evening. He also planned to do work on his grandparents’ house. Beth Ann and Stephen joined Aunt Carol and friend, Don, for Sunday dinner. In the afternoon, Carol took Beth Ann and Stephen to Ft. Niobrara to see the buffalo. They were thrilled to see the new buffalo calves. We also stopped to see the Australian patented windmill in Valentine.

Bulldogs’ Academic Achievements Recognized at 2022 AHS Academic Awards

On Monday, May 9th, Ainsworth High School held its 2022 Academic Awards Ceremony. Teachers presented the following awards to students for various achievements in their courses: Quiz Bowl Members Betty Bower Participation: Caleb Allen, Benjamin Barrow, Alyssa Erthum, Benjamin Flynn, Tylan Schlueter, Haley Schroedl, Libby Wilkins, Ethan Fernau, Ian Finley, Dakota Stutzman; Cole Bodeman, Mason Titus, Morgan Kinney and Logan Schroedl.

Nick Martin Wins Opening Golf Tournament of Season

Nick Martin carded a 10-under par round of 62 on Sunday, May 22nd to win the championship flight of the One-Person Scramble at the Ainsworth Municipal Golf Course. Martin finished two shots ahead of three players.

Ainsworth Men’s League Golf Opens Season

During a cool and windy opening night, Thursday, May 19th for Men’s League Golf at the Ainsworth Municipal Golf Course, just three golfers managed to keep their scores in the 30s. Doug Weiss led the field on opening night with a 1-over par round of 37.

Final Night Of Spring Trap League

The final night of the Spring Trap League was held on Wednesday, May 18th at The Sandhills Rod & Gun Club east of Ainsworth. Final scores: Mob County - 799, 1st Class Auto - 789, Ainsworth Golf - 777, Ripley Chevy - 776, Berry Creek - 772, Doug’s Mobil - 754, Weed Wackers - 743, Weed Eaters - 727 and Home Town Lumber - 720.
