The Brown County Board of Commissioners will hold a special meeting on Monday, June 13, 2022, at 5:00 p.m. at the Ainsworth Conference Center for the purpose of meeting with the Ainsworth City Council and Sandhills Care Center Board of Directors to discuss the Future of the Sandhills Care Center. A complete agenda is kept on file for public inspection in the Brown County Clerk’s office in Brown County Courthouse.

Richter Bicycles through Ainsworth on Route from San Francisco to New York to Support Children with Rare Diseases

Cyclist Jörg Richter of Germany is making his way across the United States. The journey will take him somewhere between 6,200 - 6,500 miles. On Sunday, May 22nd, he stopped for the night in Ainsworth, NE. Richter left around 8:45 a.m. on Monday, May 23rd with Atkinson as his next destination, where he planned to spend the night. He likes to reach his destination for each day by around noon - 1:00 p.m., before the heat sets in.

First Year of Kid Scoop News a Success at McAndrew Elementary School

For the 2021-2022 school year, the Ainsworth Star-Journal, in partnership with the Nebraska Press Association, provided monthly kids print newspapers called Kid Scoop News to each third, fourth and fifth grader at Ainsworth Community Schools – about 100 students in total.

Ainsworth Tracksters Earn 10 Medals at 2022 NSAA State Track Meet

Carter Nelson defended his 2021 State High Jump gold medal by taking first place in the 2022 State High Jump while setting a new State Meet Record in Class C with a jump of 6’ 10”. Nelson and Landon Olson of Battle Creek have competed throughout the 2022 track season and it came down to the 2022 State Track Meet to see who was better.

North Central Knights Compete at State Track

North Central qualified four girls in five events along with seven boys in four events to the 2022 Class C NSAA State Track Meet in Omaha. Brooklyn Buell placed 23rd in the 100 Meters Class C - Prelims with a time of 13.44 and 12th place in the Pole Vault, clearing 10’.
