The Brown County Board of Commissioners held their regular meeting on Tuesday, April 19th at the Brown County Courthouse. Commissioners Buddy Small and Dennis Bauer were present; Reagan Wiebelhaus was absent with illness. County Clerk Travis Hobbs, Treasurer Deb VonHeeder, Assessor Terri Van Houten were present as well.
The Nebraska Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) reported several wildfires in various locations throughout the western and central parts of Nebraska on Friday evening, April 22nd. The Ainsworth Fire Department joined area departments in fighting two of those fires that night; one in Rock County and one near Purdum.
Students and staff from Ainsworth Community Schools will be holding its Community Betterment Day on Friday, April 29th. These individuals will be working around Ainsworth, Long Pine and possibly in the Johnstown area.
Brown County pickups, trucks and trailers filled with tires lined up at the KBR Solid Waste Transfer Station for Tire Amnesty Day on Friday and Saturday, April 22nd and 23rd. Brown County Transfer Station was allotted to dispose of up to 400,000 pounds of tires this year.
