Brown County Hospital Board Approves CD Renewal

A regular meeting of the Brown County Hospital (BCH) Board of Trustees was held Monday, August 23, 2021. Present at the meeting were board members Brent Deibler, John Gross, Tate Schipporeit and Jim Walz. Brian Delimont was absent. Also attending were John Werner - CEO, Brandy Bussinger - DON, Tad Stearns - Controller, Matt Lentz - Quality Coordinator, Tami Kovar - Recording Secretary, Dr. Mel Campbell and Brown County Commissioner Denny Bauer. Travis Englund joined the meeting via Zoom.

Living to Serve: FFA Holds Labor Auction

On Tuesday, August 31st, the Ainsworth FFA Chapter hosted their annual labor auction. Serving a delicious meal of pulled pork sandwiches, the FFA Chapter was able to pack the cafeteria full of members from the community. Auctioneer Mike Baxter auctioned off 56 FFA members to serve contracts of eight hours of labor. Baxter is shown auctioning off senior Eden Raymond. With individual bids as high as $600.00, the fundraiser was a success. Funds from this activity go toward travel for conventions, materials for competition preparation, and community service activities.

Horse Tests Positive for West Nile Virus in Cherry County

The North Central District Health Department reports a horse in Cherry County has tested positive for West Nile Virus. Additional details on the symptoms or status of the horse are not currently available. Typically, horses with West Nile Virus display symptoms of depression, lack of appetite, change in behavior and mood, fever, muscle spasms and incoordination. Horse owners should talk to their vet about vaccinating their horses annually for West Nile Virus.
