Ainsworth Senior Center Celebrates 45 Years

Forty-five years ago on August 2, 1981, the Ainsworth Senior Center held an open house to celebrate their new building. Senior Center officers in 1981 were Dorothy Walton, Bill Gudgel, Dwight Moody, Burdetta Jansen and George Brede.

A Friday night fire destroyed a building in Ainsworth. According to Ainsworth Assistant Fire Chief Devin Painter, at approximately 9:30 p.m.
Ainsworth Community Schools Begins Classes on Thursday, August 13

Ainsworth Community Schools will open its doors to students for the 2026-27 school year on Thursday, August 13. The school has a host of new employees beginning this year.
Ainsworth Reclaims Border Cup

Ainsworth recaptured the Border Cup Saturday at the Ainsworth Golf Course, winning the annual match play event between members of the Ainsworth Golf Course and Bassett Country Club by a score of 15-1/2 to 9-1/2.

Walk or Run and Make a Difference for Kids this September The Team Jack Foundation is inviting supporters to lace up and make their miles matter during the 7th Annual Miles for Team Jack Challenge. The month-long challenge, beginning on September 1, gives participants the flexibility to walk or run wherever they are while raising awareness and research funds for childhood brain cancer.

Old batteries sitting in a drawer became an opportunity to do something positive for the community. During the Sandhills Ranch Expo in Bassett, the North Central Nebraska RC&D hosted a battery recycling collection as part of Nebraska’s efforts to expand safe battery recycling across the state.
