Commissioners Sign MOU with Nature Conservancy for Fairfield Creek Bridge

The Brown County Board of Commissioners held their regular meeting on Tuesday, November 16th at the Brown County Courthouse. Commissioners Dennis Bauer and Reagan Wiebelhaus were present. Commissioner Buddy Small was absent due to an illness. County Assessor Terri Van Houten, Clerk Travee Hobbs, Treasurer Deb VonHeeder and Attorney Andy Taylor were all present as well.

Jean Mellor Receives Her 50 Year OES Membership Pin

Bethany Chapter #113 Order of Eastern Star Worthy Matron Peggy Hitchcock (left) and Worthy Patron Mike Hitchcock (right) presented their newest 50 year membership pin to Jean Mellor (center). Mellor was initiated into the Order of Eastern Star in Atkinson on July 20, 1971. Mellor was Worthy Matron of her Atkinson Chapter from 1977-1980 and for 33 years, she served as their secretary. After the Atkinson #186 Chapter consolidated with O’Neill Symphony Chapter #316 in 2013, she then became a member of Bethany Chapter #113 when O’Neill consolidated with Ainsworth. The pin was presented during the “Oceans of Possibilities Anchored in Faith” district meeting held Saturday, November 6, 2021 in Ainsworth.

AHS One-Act Takes the Stage for Game of Tiaras

On Saturday, November 13th, the Ainsworth One-Act crew took the stage for the first time with their production of Game of Tiaras by Don Zolidis at the Blue and Gold play festival in North Platte. Game of Tiaras is a parody of Shakespeare’s King Lear with pop culture added throughout the play.
