Last weekend I attended the funeral of one of my uncles, Mr. Pat Strasburger. He was an icon in the Sheridan County Sandhills ranching community. He passed just a few days shy of his ninety-eighth birthday. His funeral truly was a “celebration of life.” Imagine all of the things he saw.

Vaccine Mandate Doesn’t Play Well You might want to write this on the calendar, I agree with Nebraska Governor Pete Ricketts that President Joe Biden’s sweeping new vaccine requirement is overreaching and should be challenged in court. Yes, I am fully vaccinated and still wear a mask.

Road and Sidewalk at Brown County Fairgrounds Dedicated to Lyle and Betty Stewart

The Brown County Ag Society dedicated a sidewalk and road to the late Lyle Stewart and his wife, Betty, during the 86th Annual Brown County Fair and Rodeo. The dedication and moment of silence for the late Lyle Stewart was held on Saturday, September 4th prior to the rodeo. A sidewalk was run from near the grandstands to the new restroom facilities. Street signs were placed along the sidewalk commemorating Lyle and Betty Stewart.

Brown County Town Hall Meeting

The Brown County Community Foundation Fund sponsored a Brown County Town Hall Meeting on Wednesday, September 15th in the cafeteria at Ainsworth Community Schools. Approximately 40 members of the Ainsworth community were present to hear from various groups on previous and current community improvement projects, followed by group discussion and consensus on future priorities in the community.

Ainsworth/Brown County’s Current Initiatives for Economic Development/Community Improvement

The following Economic Development/Community Improvement projects were initiated after the 2016 Town Hall meeting, which created the current Ainsworth/Brown County Strategic Plan. However, these initiatives are just a few of the projects that exemplify the efforts of various organizations and resourceful individuals to create partnerships and alliances through a collaborative effort to address needs in the community.

AHS Homecoming Royalty Crowned Following Homecoming Football Game

Ainsworth High School held Homecoming activities throughout the week, which culminated with the crowning of Homecoming Royalty on Friday, September 17th following the Homecoming football game. Homecoming Royalty are (Back Row - Left to Right): Princess Libby Wilkins, Queen Summer Richardson, King Cash Dailey and Prince Ty Schlueter. Crown bearers for the evening were (Front Row - Left to Right) Sophia Ortner and Jett Hansmeyer.
