Capitol Peregrine Falcon Chicks Banded; Naming Contest Begins

Two female and one male peregrine falcon chicks from the nest box near the top of the Nebraska Capitol building in Lincoln were banded and given a checkup June 12. “The banding went very well and all three chicks appear to be in very good shape,” said Joel Jorgensen, nongame bird program manager for the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission.

After four weeks, the tie for first place has been broken with the team of Chad Pierce, John Pierce and Kenny Wasmund taking solo first place with 25 points. The team of Graig Kinzie, Robbie France and Troy Brodbeck are in second place, just one point behind with 24 points.
Paint Striping Continues in District 8

Roadway paint striping is complete in the Ainsworth, Springview and Bassett areas. Paint striping is progressing to the Atkinson, O’Neill, Spencer and Burwell areas, according to the Nebraska Department of Transportation.
