(ALL MINUTES ARE UNOFFICIAL UNTIL APPROVED AT THE NEXT REGULAR MEETING) May 1, 2024 The Brown County Commissioners met in special session on Tuesday, May 1, 2024, at 4:00 p.m., in the Brown County Courthouse Meeting Room with members Chairman Buddy Small and Jeremiah Dailey present. Member Dennis Bauer was absent with an excused absence. Also, present were Brown County Clerk (BCC) Travis Hobbs, Brown County Sheriff (BCS) Brent Deibler and Brown County Highway Superintendent (BCHS) Kenneth Turpin.

Proceedings of Long Pine City Council Regular Meeting The Long Pine City Council held their regular meeting on May 2, 2024 at 7:00 p.m. in the Long Pine Community Center. Mayor Ed Brown called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. and called attention to the open meeting laws posted on the wall of the Community Center. The following Council Members were present: Dave Cheatum, Bryan Sanford, Linda Alberts and Andrea Collatos. Also, present City Clerk/Treasurer Jan Buoy and one (1) visitor.

April 28th - May 4th, 2024 Sunday, April 28th Responded to a report of trespassing on a rural property near Johnstown. Issued written warnings for traffic stops on Highway 7 and Highway 20 for no registration and driving on the shoulder.

Governor Jim Pillen signed Executive Order 24-03, which will eliminate government positions that have remained vacant more than 90 days, with exceptions for critical public safety positions. Taxpayer dollars budgeted for eliminated positions will be re-directed to other priorities or returned to Nebraskans in the form of property tax relief.

The West 4th Street, in Valentine project has been awarded to prime contractor Paulsen, Inc. of Cozad and is scheduled to be constructed in 2025.
