Brown County District Court was in session on February 13, 2024 with Judge Mark Kozisek presiding. The People were represented by Brown County Attorney Andy Taylor.

The 133rd Annual Ainsworth Fire & Rescue Department and Brown County Ambulance Association award night was held Saturday, February 17th at the Ainsworth Elks Lodge. Ainsworth Fire & Rescue Department This past year, the Ainsworth Fire Department responded to a wide variety of calls ranging from vehicle accidents to wild land fires with a few gas meter hits, storm watches and controlled burns and training burns included as well.

City Administrator Lisa Schroedl reported at the regular Ainsworth City Council meeting on February 14th that Myers Construction has started work on the North Main Street Project and the first change order has come in.

The Ainsworth Senior Center crowned the Valentine’s Day Royalty on February 14th. The 2024 Valentine’s Day Royalty are (Left to Right) Princess Alice Prososki, Queen Nancy Falk, King Les Waits and Prince Wes Luther.

Wrestling in her third State Wrestling Tournament, Jolyn Pozehl placed second, earning the silver medal. She was defeated in the 1st Place Championship Match by Sophia Shultz of Raymond Central. On the medal podium for the Girls 110 Lb. Weight Class were (Left to Right) 5th Place - Ella Reeves of Battle Creek, 3rd Place - Carsyn McBride of Kearney, 1st Place - Sophia Shultz of Raymond Central, 2nd Place - Jolyn Pozehl of Ainsworth, 4th Place - Talia Astorino of Papillion-La Vista and 6th Place - Ruby Guerrero of Wood River. The Ainsworth Boys Wrestling Team ended their season at the Class D District 1 Wrestling Tournament. The tournament was held in Weeping Water on Friday and Saturday, February 9th and 10th.
