The Brown County Rodeo was held over two days in Johnstown during the Brown County Fair and Rodeo on Sunday, September 3rd and Monday, September 4th. There were 250 entries from South Dakota, Missouri, Wyoming, Kansas and Nebraska competing for $32,500 in prize money Following are the results: Johnstown 2023 Bareback: Cinch Kiger - 73, Tyler Graff - 73, Cooper Filipek - 71, Whitten Hoover - 71 and Rowdy Cranston - 69.

Question: Where are my lilacs blooming now? Stressful growing conditions can cause out of season blooming and the really hot and dry period we had this summer would definitely trigger fall blooming. Early spring blooming plants like lilac, crab apple and forsythia set their flower buds for the following year in late summer after their blooms have faded.

Rich Junod and Luke Cleaver won the annual Orin Jackman Horseshoe Tournament at the 2023 Brown County Fair and Rodeo. Earl Peneaux and Chopper Watts took second place and third place went to the team of Tucker Pankowski and Trent Barber.

“Answers to Simple Questions” Now that school has been underway for a month, students are back in the learning mode and teachers are back in the teaching mode. As an outsider to the school system, sometimes I wonder how a teacher can compose themself as they hear answers to certain questions they have presented to their students for a simple answer.
