Carol Woods is thankful for 1.50 inches of rain on Tuesday 7-25 and almost an inch of rain on Saturday, 7-29. Things are so pretty and green. On Carol’s return from her brother’s, the corn crops and beans looked in excellent shape in eastern Nebraska as well as in our area. The Platte River at Columbus has lots of water and last year it was dry. There are many, many hay bales in our area, too. It is too bad we have to have bad storms with so much lightning, wind and hail like 110 mile an hour winds through Sutton.

On August 1st, people could catch a full Moon rising in the east just 30 minutes after sunset. They were able to see the entire sunlit side of the Moon as it is nearly (but not quite) in line with the Sun and Earth. The Farmers’ Almanac calls this month’s Moon the “Sturgeon Moon”, for the time of year when this giant fish was once abundant in the Great Lakes. Cultures around the world give full Moons special names, often related to growing seasons or celebrations.

One of the most common reasons a person comes to the Ear Nose and Throat clinic is a stuffy nose. The way the symptoms are described varies. The stuffiness or congestion can be present at all times, at certain times of year, worse on one side, alternate sides, and may or may not respond to medications.

KBR Rural Public Power A regular meeting of KBR Rural Public Power District Board of Directors will be held Monday, August 7th at 1:00 p.m. in the District Office at 374 North Pine Street, Ainsworth.
