Alumni Wade Alberts’ Dreams Took Him Around the World... Then Brought Him Back Home

Last year this time, Wade Alberts, a sports massage therapist, was working with USA Swimming and gearing for the 2020 Summer Olympic Games in Tokyo set for late July 2021, where he worked as a massage therapist with all Team USA athletes. It was his third Olympics, but he’s been working with professional athletes for about 25 years, since he started working with Olympian swimmer Penny Heyns while interning at UNL in ’96.

North Central Nebraska to be Well Represented at National High School Rodeo

Several cowboys and cowgirls will be representing north central Nebraska at the 2022 National High School Rodeo to be held in Gillette, WY from July 17th through July 23rd. Following have qualified for the 2022 NHSR: Ainsworth: Brady Painter - Bull Riding; Augustus Painter - Saddle Broncs; and Kieley Walz - Breakaway alternate.

Ainsworth High School Building Turns 100 Years Old

What is now considered the South Entrance or the “Old” High School building section of Ainsworth Community Schools was built 100 years ago this year. It was built during the summer of 1922 and finished September 1922.

Alcohol Inspections Held in Brown, Rock, Keya Paha Counties

Nebraska State Patrol investigators have completed a series of alcohol inspections in north-central Nebraska. The inspections were conducted at businesses in Brown, Rock, and Keya Paha counties, as part of an effort supported by Area Substance Abuse Prevention.

Commissioners Approve Mountain Lion Season

The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission approved staff recommendations for 2023 mountain lion season at its June 17th meeting in Lexington. Commissioners approved a mountain lion season in the Pine Ridge similar to 2022, with a maximum harvest of four cats, with a sublimit of two females.
