Dorothy L. Evans, 82

Dorothy L oraine ( Caldwell) E vans w as b orn December29, 1942in Wood Lake to Russell and D orothy (Burrows) C aldwell. S he w as called h ome A pril 2 1, 2 025 a t S wedish Medical Center in Engelwood, CO peacefully surrounded by her family. Loraine was t he e ldest o f 1 3 s iblings. S he married the love of her life Charles William Evans o n J une 8 , 1 962 i n R apid C ity, South Dakota. They had four children. Loraine grew up in Wood Lake where she attended school. After graduation she moved in w ith h er g randmother a nd w orked a t t he local cafe. While attending a dance she met Charles and shortly after were married. Loraine, being a military wife, lived several places eventually settling down in Hyannis, where they lived for 39 years. She had a few jobs, but everyone knew her for babysitting the town's kids. Loraine will be remembered most for her selflessness, her one-of-a-kind smirk smile and the way she could light up a room. She had a p assion for a ll g ames, f rom c ards, b oard g ames, b owling and even PlayStation. She enjoyed teaching anyone who would let her, especially if that meant she had another person to play her favorite game, p itch. O ver the y ears s he h ad m any h obbies f rom p lastic canvas, crocheting and painting ceramics. You could always count on her g ifting y ou h er h andmade c rafts for b irthday a nd Christmas presents. Her newest hobby had become diamond art and did that keep her busy! One of the biggest joys of her life were her grand/great grandchildren. She loved all opportunities she got to spend with them. Loraine will be missed deeply by all who knew her as her family would say she was the glue that held everyone together. She is survived by her children Laurie Chambers, Brenda (Casey) Spath and Corey (Bonnie) Evans, grandchildren Treyel (Kirsten)Evans, Jason (Nicole) Smith, Shauna (Koltin) Smith, Mishayla (John) Evans, Kephanie (Jacob) Deal and Blake Jensen, 20 great grandchildren and siblings Shirley (Louie) Larabee, Peggy Kuta, Jay (Carlene) Burrows, George (Tarin) Burrows, Beverly (Dave) O'Dea, Maxine Scarberry, Bill (Patty) Burrows, Carol (Don) Stewart, Kenny (Carol) Caldwell, Russ Jr. (Jeri) Caldwell, and Shannon Vincelli. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, infant son Ted and her brother Don Caldwell. Funeral service was held at Pier Funeral Home in Gordon. Jan B. Wahl, 81, was born in Ainsworth to Bill and Elva Kelly Rogers on April 29, 1943. She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Chuck. Jan’s funeral service and celebration reception will take place at 4 p.m. o n M ay 7 a t H oly Trinity E piscopal Church, 6001 A Street, Lincoln, NE 68510.

Richard Duponcheel, 86

On January 17, 1939, Richard Jerome Duponcheel was born in Omaha as Ricardo Sebastian Costanzo, the only child of Sebastian and Louise (Musco) Costanzo being 100% Italian and a first generation American. His parents divorced when he was 2 years old with his mother marrying Jerome Duponcheel who adopted Rich changing his name to Richard Jerome Duponcheel. R ich w as r ecognized f or h is beautiful singing voice over his lifetime be it as a soloist in elementary, high school, or in college programs, community choirs, and in musical theater. At the age of 10 he was selected to represent all Omaha elementary students when WOWTV began color broadcasting. He was a member of the Kearney State College Choraleers, Guam Symphony Chorale, Eugene, Oregon Community Concert Choir and the Heartland Concert Choir and Barber Shoppers of North Platte. He also sang in several church choirs. In 1981, he sang for Saint John Paul II when the Pope visited Guam.

Larry Dwaine Goshorn, born April 5, 1955, to Dwaine and Marcene (Morris) Goshorn in Gordon, p assed a way o n March 2 8, 2 025, a t the a ge of 6 9. H e was o ne of f ive b oys, a nd together, they spent their childhood getting into plenty of mischief on the ranch—oh, the stories they have told! Those early years were filled with laughter, adventure, and countless memories that would last a lifetime.

Joseph W. Gilbuena, 80

Joseph William Gilbuena was born on December 13, 1944, in Richmond, Virginia, to Joe Gomez Gilbuena and Marjorie Louise (Gould). He passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on March 25 in Norfolk.

Betty L. Wales, 91

A Celebration of Life Event for Betty L. Wales, age 91, of Bassett, formerly of Chadron and Ainsworth, will be held on Friday, April 18, at 11 a.m. at the Hoch Funeral Home in Ainsworth. A Private Family Inurnment will occur in the Moulton Cemetery near Almeria at a later date. Betty Wales passed away April 7 at the Rock County Hospital Long Term Care in Bassett.
