Gina Vaun Keller was born in Valentine, NE on August 22, 1965 to Gilbert and Virginia (Vaughn) Witte. She attended District 45 country school and then graduated from Valentine Rural High School. Gina continued her education at Mid Plains were she received her associates degree.
Harry Eugene Swanson was born on November 9, 1933, the second child of Elmer and Helen (Everingham) Swanson.
Johnny Joe Beel, age 68, of Gallatin, MO and formerly a lifelong resident of Valentine passed away on August 10, 2020 at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, KS. John was born on December 14, 1951 to Gerald and Marianne (Brinda) Beel in Valentine and was raised on the Duck Bar Ranch which his grandfather L.C. homesteaded in 1906. John attended Kennedy Rural School, where he was a member of the Rawhides 4-H Club. He then attended Valentine High School, spending one year at Maur Hill in Atchison, KS before returning to graduate from Valentine in 1971. While in high school, John participated in the boxing club, bringing home many Golden Gloves trophies and championships.
Dorotha Lorraine Pedersen was born to Christian L. and Lillian P. (Munksgard) Pedersen on April 15, 1931 in Renton, WA. Her parents had moved there seeking better employment opportunities. In July of that same year the family moved back to the Brown Lee area of Cherry County. Dorotha was raised there, learning the value of hard work and attending classes in one-room schools. After graduating from Valentine High School, she married Melvin O. Bristol May 19, 1949. To this union was born son, Dennis, on April 1, 1950.
James L. "Jim" Jones, age 54, of Kadoka, SD, died on Thursday, August 6, 2020 as a result of a work accident in rural Kadoka.
