M.I. Mead, “the irrepressible of Meadville,” (the first resident, postmaster and namesake of Meadville, and owner of Mead’s Tavern) was arraigned in court this week, “on a warrant arrest issued on complaint of David O. Luse, charging, assault with intent to kill, with a deadly weapon, an ax.” Mead was discharged by the Justice of the Peace, J.C. Sullivan.
