“Small but Mighty”: AHS Speech Season Begins

As the calendar year flips to 2022, the Ainsworth High School speech team is ready to start dedicating their Saturdays to America’s greatest fear - public speaking, that is! Speech is a competition that consists of nine events to encompass different strengths in public speaking: Informative, Persuasive, Poetry, Entertainment, Extemporaneous, Humorous Prose, Serious Prose, Duet Acting and Oral Interpretation of Drama. There is an event for everyone, and Coaches Heather Lutter and Tammy Hancock are excited about the variety of speech competitors the Ainsworth team is bringing.

Visionary Concepts for Brown County Released Following Town Hall Meeting

The Brown County Community Foundation Fund hosted a “town hall” style meeting on September 15, 2021, in the Ainsworth Community School lunch room. The following Visionary Concepts were identified to maintain the Quality of Life desired by the residents of Brown County: Housing, Early Childhood Development Center, Recreation, Economic Development, Infra-structure and Youth Leadership.

Pam Peterson Announces Retirement; Committees Appointed for 2021-2022

The Ainsworth Community Schools Board of Education held its regular meeting on Monday, January 10th. School board members Jim Arens, Mark Johnson, Frank Beel, Jessica Pozehl, Scott Erthum and Brad Wilkins and Superintendent Dale Hafer were present.

Penitentiary Engineering Study Released While Sites are Identified for Replacement Facility

A newly released engineering study details more than $220 million in upgrades necessary to extend the useful life of the Nebraska State Penitentiary (NSP). The 291- page report was provided today to members of the Nebraska State Legislature. The study, funded and approved by state senators last year, details deficiencies and costs relative to all buildings and structures located at NSP, as well as infrastructure and site-related systems.

Sheriff’s Report

January 2 - 8, 2022 Sunday, January 2nd The Brown County Ambulance Association transferred a flight crew to the Brown County Hospital to pick up a patient. Responded to a call at an Ainsworth business regarding an individual being held against their will.
