Spring Turkey Permits Available

Spring turkey hunting permits for 2022 became available from the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission on January 10th. Nebraska offers birds in every county of the state.

River Otter Season Closed January 11

Nebraska’s first regulated harvest season for river otters closed January 11th due to the season close trigger of 75 otters being met. River otters incidentally trapped after January 10th must be turned over to the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission.

Tom Chohon, Ainsworth FSA CED, to Retire After 37 1/2 Years

Tom Chohon, County Executive Director of the Ainsworth District Farm Service Agency Office and Valentine FSA Office is retiring after serving 37 1/2 years with the USDA agency. Chohon began his career in what was called the Agricultural Stabilization Conservation Service in June of 1984, and served in the Holt County, Stapleton District, and Stanton County Offices, before transferring to the Ainsworth District FSA Office in May of 1999, where he served the farmers and ranchers of Brown, Rock and Keya Paha Counties for over 22 1/2 years.

NCDHD Reports 256 New COVID-19 in District

North Central District Health Department (NCDHD) has been made aware of 256 new COVID-19 cases in the district since last reporting period on January 3rd, 2022. Case count update as of January 10th, 2022 at 3:00 p.m.: 7,749 Total Cases (TC), 7,108 Recoveries (R) and 95 Deaths (D).

UNK Announces Dean’s List

The University of Nebraska at Kearney announced students who earned a place on the dean’s list for the fall 2021 semester. Students who are on the dean’s list must have completed 12 credit hours or more of classes with a 3.5 grade-point average or better on a 4.0 scale.

Chadron State College Announces Dean’s and President’s List

Chadron State College has announced that 341 students met requirements for the Dean’s List for Fall 2021 by earning at least a 3.5 grade point average. To qualify, students must have completed at 45 credit hours, be enrolled in 12 credit hours of coursework, be seeking their first bachelor’s degree, and have no incomplete grades during the semester.
