“Think About Running for Elected Positions” Governments provide the parameters for everyday behavior for citizens, protect them from outside interference, and often provide for their well-being and happiness. Do you like the way elected officials are running our local, state or federal governing positions? Do you have time to give to make a difference in our government decisions? Maybe it is time you try your hand at making a difference for all of us.

Legislative Notes

Sen. Lou Ann Linehan’s LB 364 was debated yesterday. It is a bill that would create tax credit scholarships for poor children whose parents want a chance to send their child to a private school. It was filibustered for a full eight hours and the cloture vote was taken. It fell five votes short of the thirty-three votes needed. Sen. Linehan joined the legislature the same time I did. This was the sixth time she has introduced this bill and it has died in committee or from a filibuster every time. I am confident she will continue to introduce it. Nebraska continues to be one of two states that have no form of school choice. (aka; parents deciding how their tax dollars will be spent for their child’s education)

2022 Community Events Being Requested

If your organization is planning an annual event in the Brown, Rock or Keya Paha County areas, we would like those submitted to the Ainsworth Star-Journal so we can put them on a 2022 Calendar. So many times we get phone calls wanting to know when something is going to happen - this way we will know.
