October 14, 2021 To the Editor, Ainsworth Star-Journal, (And to anyone who thinks that flying the Confederate battle flag is an appropriate protest against the United States government.) One of my great-great-grandfathers on my father’s side, John Ross, moved his family to Manhattan in the territory of Kansas to try to see Kansas brought into the Union as a free state. Another great-great-grandfather, Daniel Drake, a middle-aged widower with a new wife and six living children, enlisted as a private in the artillery on the Union side and was killed.

October 10 - 16, 2021 Sunday, October 10th Received reports of cattle out in several different locations in Brown County. The owners of the cattle were located and removed all livestock from roadways.

“Good Luck to Cross Country Teams” If you have never been to a Cross Country meet, it is definitely a sight to see. Last Thursday at the Ainsworth Municipal Golf Course, you could see many colors in the uniforms of the 17 teams participating, plus green fairways and the leaves slowly changing into their fall colors.
