The regular meeting of the Gregory County Board of Commissioners was held at 9:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 16, 2021, at the Gregory County Courthouse. On the road again Travel requests were approved for Highway Superintendent Brad Ellwanger to attend the 2021 Highway Superintendents Short Course in Deadwood, March 23-25, 2021 (mileage, rooms, meals), for Sheriff’s Administrative Assistant Megan Lindholm to attend the Sex Offender Registry Conference in Deadwood, April 19 and 20 (mileage, rooms, meals) and to attend the 24/7 Statewide Training in Oacoma, July 14 and 15 (room and meals), and for the county commissioners and officials to attend the Spring Workstop for Commissioners and New Officials Workshop in Pierre March 17 and 18 (room, meals mileage).

Gregory residents are being given a second chance to get recycling right. A new trailer, specifically made for recycling, is now parked by the city’s swimming pool and will be monitored by a security camera.

The Burke/Gregory Storm wrestlers competed in the South Dakota High School Activities Association Region 3B tournament on Saturday, February 20, 2021, in Wagner, and came away with a third place finish in a field of 13 teams.

Richard and Sara Grim have been named the winners of the Conservation Producer 2020 Hugh Hammond Bennett Award for Conservation Excellence for their outstanding conservation efforts on their ranch, Grim Ranch, in Gregory County, South Dakota (SD).

Sometimes moms know best. Jace Robertson claims that the only thing that kept him involved in scouting was his mom, but now that he has completed the requirements and earned the rank of Eagle Scout, he is glad that she did.
