The regularly scheduled meeting of the Ainsworth Lion’s Club was held on March 15th, 2021 at Canyon Creek and via Zoom. Lions Club President Vance Heyer called the meeting to order with 13 members present.

Local Ainsworth author Katie (Nelson) Rau has written a children’s book “The Best Discovery” about her life. The book was illustrated by Shelly Strand who also lives in Ainsworth In the story, Little Quail loves to play and wants to be a ninja when he grows up.

The Long Pine Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting on March 20th for Coffee Vault and The Mane Attraction, located at 341 N. Main Street in Long Pine.

A survey from Nebraska Extension seeks ranchers’ input on the design of grassland conservation programs in the state. The survey, a partnership among Nebraska Extension, Nebraska Cattlemen’s, Nebraska Grazing Lands Coalition, Nebraska Game and Parks Commission, and the University of Nebraska, is a targeted effort to get feedback directly from the ranchers in the state.

Murray Mellor of Atkinson, NE received his 50 year pin and certificate from the Grand Lodge of Ancient Free and Accepted Masons of Nebraska during the Long Pine Masonic Lodge No. 136 meeting on March 16th in Long Pine, NE.

North Central District Health Department (NCDHD) has been made aware of seven new COVID-19 cases in the district since last reporting period on March 18, 2021: 0 - Antelope, 1 - Boyd, 0 - Brown, 3 - Cherry, 1 - Holt, 0 - Keya Paha, 1 - Knox, 1 - Pierce and 0 - Rock. NCDHD still encourages district residents to continue to wear your mask in public places or where social distancing is difficult as well as practice social distancing while out in public.
