Lawmakers Should Embrace Fiscal Restraint The governor and his director of corrections want to build a new prison, a $230 million prison that wouldn’t be ready for a few years and would cost $34 million a year to operate if it can be staffed. More than a few state senators want to look at a planned study of criminal justice reforms and consider other proposals for reducing the huge influx of prisoners into the system.

Volunteers Distribute 42,000 Lbs. of Food from USDA Farmers to Families

USDA Farmers to Families Food Boxes were delivered to Long Pine on Friday, March 19th where they were distributed in the parking lot at The Long Pine Palace. The 1,200 boxes of food weighed 42,000 pounds and were free to anyone living in the Long Pine, Ainsworth, Springview, Johnstown and Bassett areas who picked them up.

Commissioners Discuss Resurfacing Meadville Avenue

The Brown County Commissioners discussed resurfacing 7.5 miles of Meadville Avenue (Old Highway 7) at their regular meeting on March 16th. Commissioner Dennis Bauer had brought up the resurfacing of Meadville Avenue at a previous meeting.
