“A Night in Monaco” It is always fun to attend the Grand March held in conjunction with the Ainsworth High School Junior/Senior Prom. It’s great to see the couples all dressed up with big smiles on their faces, even though it isn’t their common attire for a normal day.

Today we completed day fifty-two of our sixty day session. With time growing shorter, so are tempers. I do not think I have ever seen this many filibusters used in a session. Because of all the time spent doing this, quite a few bills will never get a chance to be placed on the agenda and heard. Senators are upset by this and I don’t blame them.

Lawmakers Log jammed, Political Intrigue Abounds With lawmakers log jammed inside the State Capitol during the waning days of the short 2022 legislative session, the political intrigue outside is bubbling over. State senators are trying compromise and downright bullishness to move along big ticket items favored by the Governor such as: tax cuts for corporations and the rich; a big ditch in Southwest Nebraska to take a fair share of allocated water from Colorado’s stretch of the South Platte River; building an Okoboji-size lake between Lincoln and Omaha: building a new prison and providing continuing property tax relief.

In late March, the speed limit signs that inform drivers of speed reductions on Highway 20 as they enter the City of Ainsworth were moved further east and west of the city boundaries. According to Carl Hart, NDOT Project Manager, the signs had to be moved because the center turning lane on the highway through town is being extended farther east and west during the upcoming Highway 20 rehabilitation project.

The Nebraska Department of Transportation (NDOT) will hold a public information open house meeting regarding proposed improvements to Nebraska Highway 7 (N-7) in Brown County. The meeting will be held at the Ainsworth Conference Center, 606 East 4th Street, in Ainsworth on Thursday, April 14, 2022, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.

During the 2022 AHS Prom Junior/Senior Prom, crowned royalty were Queen Madelyn Goochey and King Ben Flynn. “A Night in Monaco” was held on Saturday, April 2nd.
