50 years ago, high schools around Nebraska joined the NSAA for the first season of sanctioned high school volleyball competitions in the fall of 1971. 50 years later, in 2021, over 100 past and present Nebraska high school volleyball players celebrated their shared history at the Ainsworth–Stuart–North Central triangular held in Ainsworth on Tuesday, October 5th in McAndrew Gymnasium.

The Ainsworth Community Schools Board of Education held its regular meeting on Monday, October 11th. School board members Jim Arens, Frank Beel, Jessica Pozehl, Scott Erthum and Brad Wilkins were present and Mark Johnson was absent.

The Long Pine Heritage Society has installed three new historical signs in Long Pine. They highlight the rail yard of Long Pine. This project was started in April of 2021, when the Ainsworth Middle School Students came to Long Pine during Community Betterment Day and cleared the brush at the Roundhouse turntable site. Funding for the project came from grants through the Brown County Community Foundation Fund, the Brown County Visitor Committee and the Long Pine Chamber of Commerce. Casey Duden and Gayle Buoy are responsible for the stands the signs rest on and the concrete that supports them.

At the 2021 Brown County Fair & Rodeo, held over Labor Day Weekend, the Brown County Ag Society presented the Farm Family of the Year Award and plaque to the Calvin and Sherry Goochey family. Sherry and Calvin haven’t missed the Annual Brown County Fair & Rodeo since they were married, 47 years ago.

The Brown County Hospital Board of Trustees has announced the resignation submitted by current Chief Executive Officer (CEO) John Werner. Werner came to Ainsworth in spring of 2018, officially starting the position on May 7th.

The Ainsworth Bulldogs traveled to Neligh on Friday, October 1st for a football game with the Neligh-Oakdale Warriors. Ainsworth got on the board first and made the two-point conversion to take an 8-0 lead early in the first quarter.
