It’s officially canning season, and if your shelves are already filling with jars of asparagus, peas, or strawberry jam—you’re not alone. But before sealing up the season’s harvest, it’s worth taking a few minutes to double- check that your food preservation methods are up to date and safe.

The Cattlemen’s Ball was held near Blue Springs last weekend, June 6 and 7. Since the inaugural event in 1998, the Cattlemen’s Ball has raised more than $21 million to fund cancer research and support local health initiatives, and last weekend provided an opportunity for southeast Nebraska to come together and continue raising vital funds.

Teigan Marbry and Tayson Stiehl won the 2025 South Dakota B.A.S.S. Nation High School State Fishing Tournament on Lake Sharpe, Fort Thompson, South Dakota.

On Monday, May 19, 13 high school students and seven sponsors left for Lincoln to do mission work with The People’s City Mission, The Matt Talbot Kitchen Outreach, and the Center for People. After arriving Monday afternoon, they set up at the Saint Paul United Methodist Church in downtown Lincoln and then spent the evening at the Urban Air Trampoline and Adventure Park for an evening of jumping, dodge ball, zip line, wall climbing, and other fun adventures.
