Nebraska’s November 2024 Unemployment Rate is 2.8 Percent

The Nebraska Department of Labor (NDOL) announced that Nebraska’s preliminary unemployment rate for November 2024 is 2.8 percent, seasonally adjusted. The rate is up 0.1 percent from the October 2024 rate and is up 0.3 percentage points from the November 2023 rate of 2.5 percent. Nebraska’s rate is ranked fifth lowest in the nation.

Brown County Commissioners Acknowledge Law Suit Filed Against Brown County

During the regular meeting of the Brown County Commissioners on December 17th, the commissioners acknowledged a filing in district court by Hathshire Berkaway against the county. County Attorney Andy Taylor said the filing was made by Grant Kobes’ company against the county for the board’s action to award damages to landowners for the construction of a road to Kobes’ property in southwestern Brown County at the former Long Lake State Recreation Area site.

Brown County Historical Society Gets Assistance from the Brown County Community Fund

The Brown County Historical Society would like to take this opportunity to thank the Brown County Lodging Committee for the generous grant given to them. The Brown County Foundation gave a donation, as well as Jerry Paulson of Paulson Lawn Service who donated his time and efforts, along with the people who donated in memory of Carol Larson.

Ainsworth Star-Journal Will Continue Publication

Just like a Hallmark Channel Christmas miracle, as the final hour was approaching for the Ainsworth Star-Journal, three Ainsworth businessmen joined forces to purchase the Ainsworth Star-Journal and keep the newspaper from ceasing publication.
