Hannah Beel of Johnstown has been selected to attend American Legion Auxiliary Cornhusker Girls State June 2-8, 2024, on the campus of the University of Nebraska in Lincoln. Beel will study local, county and state government processes in this nonpartisan political learning experience. Every spring, the American Legion Auxiliary Girls State Program provides approximately 25,000 young women with handson educational opportunities designed to instruct tomorrow’s leaders in privileges and duties of responsible citizenship.

The Nebraska School Activities Association (NSAA) is pleased to announce the student recipients of the Winter 2023-2024 Nebraska Chiropractic Physicians Association (NCPA) Academic All-State Awards. Since 2006 this NSAA Awards Program has recognized students who meet the criteria for nomination by their school in the season of their activity.

Adeline Hladky of Ainsworth Wrestling Club earned a 4th place plaque in her respective bracket. Nebraska USA Wrestling had 2,630 compete in their state tournament in Grand Island on March 16th and 17th.

With less than a month left of the 2024 Nebraska Legislative Session, lawmakers met last week to discuss and advance bills. Some of the legislative action centered around voting rights for felons, safe haven locations for infants, teacher recruitment and obscene materials in schools.

The Ainsworth Lions Club held its regular monthly meeting at 12:00 noon on March 18, 2024 at the Senior Center. Lions Club President Steve Dike called the meeting to order with 13 members present. Lion Fuchs presented the Treasurer’s Report that included one withdrawal for the purchase of tablecloths for upcoming banquets.
