Brown County Hospital Board Accepts AFC Roofing Bid

A regular meeting of the Brown County Hospital (BCH) Board of Trustees was held Monday, July 25, 2022. Present at the meeting were Chairman Brent Deibler, board members Tate Schipporeit, Jim Walz and John Gross. Excused was board member Brian Delimont. Also attending were Mirya Hallock - CEO and Tawny Allen-Recording Secretary. Tad Stearns-CFO attended via zoom. Corey Schroedl - Maintenance Manager attended for his presentation.

One late summer day, fresh out of residency and seeing patients for the first time as a full-fledged family physician, I examined a young man who had a fever, fatigue, and a bad headache. Considering the time of year, influenza was low on the list of possibilities, and COVID-19 did not yet exist. After a physical exam and listening to his story, I ordered some tests, which resulted in a diagnosis of West Nile virus.

Nebraska Corn Joins Call-To-Action to Protect Atrazine

The Nebraska Corn Board (NCB) and the Nebraska Corn Growers Association (NeCGA) are urging farmers to submit comments to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). On June 30, the EPA announced an upcoming revision of atrazine’s registration. This new level of concern for atrazine will vastly reduce the herbicide’s effectiveness, hindering farmers’ ability to utilize this critical tool.
